Have you heard of Round Top antiques week? As an *almost* lifelong Texan, I've always considered the Round Top antique show as the Holy Grail of antiquing and flea markets. After moving to Austin after college, my husband and I started to take short trips around central Texas. After a few trips to Fredericksburg, we decided to brave the Round Top antique show. Located about halfway between Austin and Houston, just South of Brenham, TX (home of Bluebell Ice Cream!) lies a tiny little town that explodes with pickers a few times a year. Andrew and I have made the…

I'm sure you probably heard about the epic 'Texas Freeze' we had here last month. It made national news on the account that we hadn't seen snow like this in a century (if ever) and many people lost access to power and water. The temperatures hit record lows and houses down here in Austin just aren't built for that. So, the perfect storm of low temps and Texas construction caused havoc on many people's homes. We had friends with busted tankless water heaters, burst pipes in exterior walls, and then, we had my friend Monica. Her power was out for…

Birthday season has officially begun in our household! My three children have birthdays in March, April, and May (and mine falls in March as well), so we recently celebrated our youngest child turning TWO. Because of her love of sweets and anything involving chocolate, I chose "Two Sweet" as her birthday theme. The Decor As I usually do, I took to Pinterest to gather ideas and pick a color scheme. For this "Two Sweet" birthday party, I chose to use blue, teal, yellow, and several shades of pink, plus white. And to play off of the theme, I also incorporated…

Do you cook the same things on rotation week after week, or do you find new recipes to try each week? I go through phases of each of the above, but lately with limited time, I keep falling back on my tried and true, easy weeknight recipes. These are the recipes that I keep coming back to, time and time again, and almost have the ingredients memorized. To streamline my meal prep, I eat the same breakfast and lunch every weekday. So, when making my grocery list, I just have to come up with 5-6 dinner meals (Fridays are ALWAYS…

My first Pinterest Party of 2021 is in the books! Last month a few friends and I got together to make DIY Pom Pom wreaths and they came out soooooo cute. I actually saw this idea on Instagram and thought it would be a super easy project for a crowd. And although it was easy, I completely underestimated how long it would take. But more on that in a minute. This is a beginner level craft that takes very little supplies - just 4 items! And if you aren't making one at a Pinterest Party, this is great craft to…

Its time for another Throwback Thursday, where I share a space in our house and all the renovations that went into it. Just to recap, we bought our house in May of 2012 and immediately started a gut renovation. It took about 6 months for the house to be livable (meaning there was a functioning toilet and shower - still no kitchen at this point) and another year and half after that for the main renovations to be completed. Since then, we've been enhancing the features of our home one DIY project at a time. Today I'm sharing the entry…

A few months back, I shared how I refreshed my kitchen chairs with a little bit of elbow grease and my favorite paint sprayer, and lets just say it snowballed into a 'if you give a mouse a cookie' kind of situation. See, once I painted the chairs black, the table looked off. When there were multiple chair colors next to the dark stained table with yellow legs, it kind of gave off an eclectic vibe, but once the chairs were united in black, the table fell a little flat. So, I did what any person does these days and…

I recently started aspiring to become a plant lady. There, I said it. Its been a slow start though. Currently, I have a few succulents, one fern that seems to dislike me, and a very health pothos that loves my laundry room. And this week, a friend gave me a teeny tiny fiddle leaf fig that she propagated from her lovely and mature fiddle that lives in her plant haven of a living room. Naturally, I want this fiddle leaf fig to blossom and grow into a mature tree, so what better place to start than to build it a…

Happy New Year!! Okay, I know I'm late in saying that considering its the beginning of February as I type this, but, if you didn't notice already, I updated my blog website and gained a few new features (now you can search)!! I've been working on this change for the last 6 weeks, hence the lack of blog posts last month, and I'm proud to have finally launched my new site with the little knowledge of website building that I have. So, even though its February, I thought a 'goals' post would be fun since its my first blog post…

December is always a busy month in our house, no only because of the extra holiday activities that are usually present, but also, I typically decide I want to make allll the homemade gifts for family and friends that I've been thinking about all year long and still haven't started. After making my annual personalized ornaments that I shared last week, I couldn't help myself but to try a few other resin projects while I had my supplies out. I've known I wanted to make a few sets of resin coasters as holiday gifts since hosting my resin coaster Pinterest…
