We are now halfway through the BHG One Room Challenge, and we are making progress on our primary bedroom one weekend at a time! This week we installed vertical v-groove paneling along the headboard wall in our room. It was a quick, beginner level project and even though it isn't painted yet, it has already elevated our room. We are no strangers to paneling, we have board and batten in our mudroom, faux shiplap in our bathroom, and beadboard in our kitchen. I love the extra dimension it adds to a room and I think it will turn out stunning…

I am so excited to be sharing this furniture makeover with you today. I've been dreaming up this piece since we switched bedrooms with our kiddos 5 months ago (more on that here). There were definitely moments in this process where I was ready to throw in the towel and give up. But instead, I persevered through this modern dresser makeover and ended up with this beautiful dresser which I love, for less than $215 bucks! Below you can see what the dresser looked like when my friend asked if we wanted it for one of our projects. And since…
Its been a whirlwind week participating in my first One Room Challenge! Although I don't have much physical progress to show you, I've made a few decisions, narrowed down a few choices, and finalized some design elements, and I'm here to share my bedroom design ideas with you today! To recap, I chose to focus on my primary bedroom design for this One Room Challenge (you can read my week 1 post here). This room was previously our 4 and 6 year olds' room so its basically a blank slate. I plan to reuse our metal headboard and the curtains,…
After seeing many people online (aka instagram) participate in the BGH One Room Challenge, I've decided to participate too this fall! For week 1, I'm sharing my primary bedroom design plan, as it stands right now. At the beginning of May, Andrew and I had this crazy idea to switch rooms with our two older kids. To recap, we have 5 members in our family and 3 bedrooms in our house. Our two oldest children, who are 6 and 4 years old, share a room and our youngest daughter sleeps in the 3rd bedroom, our nursery. Now, before you label…
Recently, I shared how we built a modern industrial bathroom vanity, and today I wanted to share the rest of this small bathroom renovation with you. This bathroom is located at my in-laws' house in Saint Louis, Missouri, and we were lucky enough to be part of the process of this remodel. The old bathroom was original to their 1960s house and included some very retro blue tile. My in-laws were already contemplating a bathroom reno when one day last fall there was an unfortunate event that ended in a broken toilet tank. This was the catalyst for this project…
If you read my post from a few weeks ago, you know I'm helping my friend Monica with her home reno, as her ceiling turned waterfall wreaked havoc on her house. I'm calling this project the Allandale Project, and my have things started to pick up. At the time of writing this, the drywallers are at the tail end of the tape and float process, and we are 5 days away from cabinet delivery. The general contractor is moving things along quickly and the spaces are starting to take shape. You can read about the initial cause of this renovation…
I'm sure you probably heard about the epic 'Texas Freeze' we had here last month. It made national news on the account that we hadn't seen snow like this in a century (if ever) and many people lost access to power and water. The temperatures hit record lows and houses down here in Austin just aren't built for that. So, the perfect storm of low temps and Texas construction caused havoc on many people's homes. We had friends with busted tankless water heaters, burst pipes in exterior walls, and then, we had my friend Monica. Her power was out for…
I'm embarking on another room makeover! This time, my friend Lindsey asked if I would help her refresh her living room. As many of us are spending much more time at home these days, our spaces that we decorated years ago are starting to fall flat. Lindsey and her husband bought their home 8 and a half years ago and aside from updating their sofas and rug, haven't really changed the decor in their living room since they first moved in. Since buying their house, they've added two young children and a chocolate lab to their family, so Lindsey is…
Hey everyone! I'm back this week to share another room in my Throwback Thursday series, and this week I'm sharing how we renovated what we call our mudroom (although it doesn't function like your typical mudroom). I feel like every time I write a post in this series I declare that room was the most transformative of all the rooms in our house. But I do feel like this room was the most transformed on the smallest budget of all the rooms in our house. Once we removed the horrendous floors and dropped ceiling, a little paint went a looooooonnnng…
Hi ya'll! If you've been following along for any amount of time, you probably know we have ONE bathroom in our house and most people would consider it small, at best (you can read about it here and here). Well, it turns out we aren't the only ones with small bathroom problems. We were recently asked to help a family member update their small bathroom with a new vanity. Current bathroom Currently, the 7.5' x 5' bathroom has a pedestal sink with no countertop space and no storage capacity, so after living with this bathroom for almost 3 years, Sam…
