We are halfway through the one room challenge and I can confidently report that we are 90% finished with the tile work. If you missed the beginning of our hall bathroom renovation, you can catch up here: Our Hall Bath Renovation Before + Inspiration: Week 1Hall Bath Demo + Prep: Week 2Hall Bathroom Tile Picks: Week 3 First, I want to start off by saying we are novice tile installers, at best. In our last home, we hired out the bathroom tile and kitchen backsplash tile, but gained some confidence to give it a shot by the time we renovated…

Have you heard of Round Top antiques week? As an *almost* lifelong Texan, I've always considered the Round Top antique show as the Holy Grail of antiquing and flea markets. After moving to Austin after college, my husband and I started to take short trips around central Texas. After a few trips to Fredericksburg, we decided to brave the Round Top antique show. Located about halfway between Austin and Houston, just South of Brenham, TX (home of Bluebell Ice Cream!) lies a tiny little town that explodes with pickers a few times a year. Andrew and I have made the…
Its time for another Throwback Thursday, where I share a space in our house and all the renovations that went into it. Just to recap, we bought our house in May of 2012 and immediately started a gut renovation. It took about 6 months for the house to be livable (meaning there was a functioning toilet and shower - still no kitchen at this point) and another year and half after that for the main renovations to be completed. Since then, we've been enhancing the features of our home one DIY project at a time. Today I'm sharing the entry…
Happy New Year!! Okay, I know I'm late in saying that considering its the beginning of February as I type this, but, if you didn't notice already, I updated my blog website and gained a few new features (now you can search)!! I've been working on this change for the last 6 weeks, hence the lack of blog posts last month, and I'm proud to have finally launched my new site with the little knowledge of website building that I have. So, even though its February, I thought a 'goals' post would be fun since its my first blog post…
Although it hasn't changed much for my family, I know a lot of people are working from home a lot more these days, so I thought it would be fun (and an opportune time) to share my home office must haves. Now, before you go thinking I have a room composed of four walls, with a door that shuts for privacy, dedicated as an 'office space,' let me remind you my house is 1300 square feet. I do not have an office. But, what I do have is a dedicated space with a desk and all the things I need…
And how I broke my kids of the TV curse Okay, I'm not here to tell anyone how much TV they or their children should watch, I'm just here to say that come last fall, my kids and I were watching waaaaay too much TV. I've never been one to set a timer and monitor how much TV my kids are watching (which might have been part of my problem to begin with...) and I started to notice my kids (who are 4 and 2) behaved worse after watching TV or on days where they watched "too much" TV. Synchronously,…
I've been in the kitchen a lot lately after starting a sugar-free 100-day challenge (more on that to come) and I wanted to share some items that are true work-horses for me. I use these items *almost* everyday and they make cooking and cleaning a breeze. I use this Le Creuset skillet for most meals and the size is great. It's enameled cast iron so you can cook anything in it and its simple to clean too!Whether I'm making pancakes or mixing up veggies to roast, I use these melamine bowls. The three different sizes come in handy for mixing…
Hi Ya'll! I'm Hannah, and I'm so glad you are here. I hope you will find inspiration, creative ideas, and DIY motivation as you read through my blog on renovating our 1950's bungalow in Austin, Texas. I'm a *retired* teacher turned stay-at-home-mom rebranding herself as an interior designer (and I use that term loosely). I live in Austin with my husband (a closet carpenter) and our three kids under 5. Our house bleeds crimson and blue for the Kansas Jayhawks (my husband's and my alma mater) and I'm a sucker for a vanilla diet coke from Sonic happy hour. I…
