Hi ya’ll! I’m back after a few weeks off to vacation with the family and soak in every last minute of summer break before my 5 year-old starts kindergarten this week (how is that possible already?!). While making the most of my last few weeks of summer break, I managed to squeeze in some time to visit Ikea.
It’s been a while since I took a trip to Ikea and last week I had the perfect excuse to go peruse the great Scandinavian showroom. I’m lucky enough to have an Ikea just a mere 25 minutes from me, so when I needed to source some side tables for an upcoming Pinterest party, and some material for some DIY nightstands I’m envisioning, I emptied the trunk of my SUV and headed on over. While there, I rounded up 13 of my favorite home decor items that would be a great addition to any room.
- SNIDAD rattan basket – This basket is a great size and could be used in your living room for holding extra throws or pillows, a kids room to corral stuffed animals, or in your entryway to stash your shoes. Wherever you decide to put it, it will add texture and warmth to your space.
- LOMVIKEN aluminum frames – okay, hear me out. I know everyone is going with gold frames these days and I even used these gold frames on my last DIY project. But, gold is not for everyone. And these aluminum frames would be a great compliment to an industrial vibe or could fade into the background as a neutral in a bohemian style room.
- NYMO white and brass lamp shade – This light fixture catches my eye every time I roam the isles of Ikea. It comes in a few sizes (and black too!), so you can find one perfectly suited for above your dining room table, your entryway, or even flanking your bed. And since its Ikea, this lamp shade can be on a lamp with a stand, or made into a pendant and hung from the ceiling.
- SKAGGORT gold dot pillow cover – I just love the fun print of this 20″ x 20″ pillow cover and think its a great addition to glam up your couch, accent chair, or bed.
- JAKOBSBYN pendant lamp globe – Can you tell I’m on a lighting kick? These would be great hung over a pair of nightstands or over your kitchen island or dining room table. And, again, because its Ikea, everything is customizable. There are several cord kits to choose from to match any decor style you may have and you can add extra interest with a cool light bulb.
- UTVANDIG wooden tray – Don’t let the pictures deter you, this piece looks even better in real life. Its a great size, and pretty much matches any decor style you could possibly have. And its the perfect mid-range wood tone to add warmth and texture wherever you put it.
- LUBBAN serving cart – Now, I know Ikea is better known for this bar cart, but if thats not quite your style, and beachy, warm texture is more your style, this is another great option. And what’s not to love about this side table on wheels?
- HJORTSVANG wool rug – This rug made me do a double take as its super thick and plush AND made of naturally stain resistant wool. All but one of the rugs in my house are made of 100% wool for this property alone, and bonus, wool is super durable too. The only downside to this rug is it doesn’t come in more sizes! But the 5′ x 7.5′ rug might fit perfectly in your space.
- BEHOVD pitcher – This vacuum flask has a sleek shape and cheerful color and would look great on your countertop no matter what the season. Which is great because it keeps cold beverages cold and warm beverages warm, so you can sip on whatever fits your mood at the time.
- VARIERA drawer organizer – If you’ve been following along for any amount of time, you know I love a good drawer organizer. But don’t put this flatware tray in a box. It could be used to organize your cosmetics in your bathroom or supplies in your craft area, in addition to your silverware. They sell varying sizes, so take measurements and find the best combo to fit your space.
- RISATORP wire basket – I’m already regretting not buying a few of these baskets when I made my trip to Ikea last week. And talk about a chameleon. You could use these anywhere! Kitchen items, craft supplies, kid’s toys, the list goes on and on. The size is good, not huge but not too small, it comes in several colors, and the handle rotates for easy access to items. Please send me pictures of how you use these if you have/buy some!
- LOMMARP chest – This is a new piece for Ikea and when I wrote this item down on my top picks list, I called it the ‘entry chest’ because I think it would look amazing in an entryway and has plenty of room to stash all the things needed to help you get out the door in a jiffy. It could also add storage to a guest room while doubling as a TV stand or serve as a buffet table in your dining room. The dark teal-gray color makes this a showstopper in any room.
- HOVSTA thick birch frames – Since I have a sort of natural/beachy/warm wood texture theme going here, I thought I would round out this post with these birch frames. But what I really love about these frames is their depth. The frame is more than an inch thick, reminiscent of a shadow box (you can mount your art at the front of the frame or the back of the frame), so they add extra dimension to your art and whatever space you put them in.
