The day has finally come to share my Primary Bedroom Makeover! There was a point near the end where I thought it might not happen (thank you wall sconce delay) but here we are. The One Room Challenge reveal is here! Lets take a little walk down memory lane. Here's what our primary bedroom looked like 8 weeks ago: And here's what it looked like when we bought our house 9 and a half years ago: charming, right? And after a *few* upgrades, here is what the room looks like today: We accomplished almost everything we set out to do…

Its gift giving season and I have you covered! I'm one of the those people who starts Holiday shopping over the summer but then is still finding a few last minute gifts mid-December. Or, I forgot what I bought back in July and then end up buying a few more gifts for family members before I realize what I already had. The more, the merrier, right? Today I have a list of sure-to-please gifts for the kids! Currently, our kids are 6, 4, and 2, so most of these gifts are geared toward the 10 and under crowd, but you…

So, this was supposed to be a post about the new nightstand bases we built. With the beautiful cane detail, light wood tones, and ample storage. This is not that post. Because, sometimes in DIY, things don't always go as planned. With only two weeks left, as I approached Andrew about building said bases, he wasn't very enthused. At this point, we essentially had two weekends to build them, and that would be a stretch. If I'm honest, I probably underestimated the time it would take to compete this project. Especially since I wanted to add caning - a material…

I think I broke a record for the longest amount of time to paint one small bedroom. After 7 (and a half) days, our primary bedroom is finally painted! If you have kids and you've attempted any sort of DIY project, then this will come as no surprise to you. I even had the generous help of my Mother-in-law and it still took that long. Even though I chose a two-tone look, this project still felt like a marathon painting session that might never end. But, I learned a new skill - how to paint a crisp line! And I…

I can't believe we are more than halfway through the One Room Challenge. Its flying by! The feeling is similar to when you plan and anticipate a vacation for what feels like forever, then it seems to happen in the blink of an eye. I'm in the process of painting our primary bedroom, see below. So, while I don't have many progress photos to show you this week, I wanted to share some of my design decision tips. Primary bedroom painting progress :) There are many rules-of-thumb when designing spaces, like how big your coffee table should be in relation…

We are now halfway through the BHG One Room Challenge, and we are making progress on our primary bedroom one weekend at a time! This week we installed vertical v-groove paneling along the headboard wall in our room. It was a quick, beginner level project and even though it isn't painted yet, it has already elevated our room. We are no strangers to paneling, we have board and batten in our mudroom, faux shiplap in our bathroom, and beadboard in our kitchen. I love the extra dimension it adds to a room and I think it will turn out stunning…

I am so excited to be sharing this furniture makeover with you today. I've been dreaming up this piece since we switched bedrooms with our kiddos 5 months ago (more on that here). There were definitely moments in this process where I was ready to throw in the towel and give up. But instead, I persevered through this modern dresser makeover and ended up with this beautiful dresser which I love, for less than $215 bucks! Below you can see what the dresser looked like when my friend asked if we wanted it for one of our projects. And since…

Its been a whirlwind week participating in my first One Room Challenge! Although I don't have much physical progress to show you, I've made a few decisions, narrowed down a few choices, and finalized some design elements, and I'm here to share my bedroom design ideas with you today! To recap, I chose to focus on my primary bedroom design for this One Room Challenge (you can read my week 1 post here). This room was previously our 4 and 6 year olds' room so its basically a blank slate. I plan to reuse our metal headboard and the curtains,…

After seeing many people online (aka instagram) participate in the BGH One Room Challenge, I've decided to participate too this fall! For week 1, I'm sharing my primary bedroom design plan, as it stands right now. At the beginning of May, Andrew and I had this crazy idea to switch rooms with our two older kids. To recap, we have 5 members in our family and 3 bedrooms in our house. Our two oldest children, who are 6 and 4 years old, share a room and our youngest daughter sleeps in the 3rd bedroom, our nursery. Now, before you label…

As I was scrolling Pinterest one day, this project caught my eye. I had never worked with clay (in my adult life anyways) and since I love to try new crafts, this seemed perfect for a Pinterest Party. DIY clay bowls are beginner friendly, don't use many supplies, and are inexpensive to make. What's not to like?! Two packs of clay made 7-8 small circular and oblong bowls. Obviously, the size of your pieces will determine how many you can make. This would be a great craft to make a few extras for birthday and hostess gifts - just stash…
