Hi guys! If you've been reading this blog for any matter of time, you know I love a good transformation. So today, I have another makeover for you (I know, two weeks in a row?! You are in for a real treat), only its not a furniture makeover, its a vase makeover. Yup, you read that right. I've seen this update done before and most recently I saw it on @jolielaidedesigns instagram stories and I had to try it. Several weeks went by after watching that instagram story and I finally gathered the necessary materials and gave it a go…
Hi Everyone! Today, I have another furniture makeover to share with you. These side tables have been sitting in my garage for a few months just waiting their turn for a transformation. And how did they end up in my garage, you ask? Well, let me just say, I have a reputation. You know I can't turn down a free piece of furniture that could easily live another life with just a little bit of love. You might say its my calling. Insert my husband's eye roll here. But back to the tables. My father is a realtor and often…
Hi ya'll! This past Memorial Day weekend, we celebrated our son turning FIVE! (So, now we have a 5 year old, 3 year old, and 1 year old) He requested a rocket ship party months ago and although we had to deviate from the original plan a good amount, we were still able to celebrate our sweet boy's big day. Honestly, I thought I would be writing a post about our daughter's golden birthday (Golden Birthday: when you turn as old as the day of the month your birthday falls on, i.e., our daughter turned three on the 3rd of…
Yup, you read that right. We renovated a kitchen in FIVE days. Less than a week. New cabinets, new appliances, new countertops, we did it all. IN. FIVE. DAYS. Okay, sorry for the all-caps yelling, but this project was near and dear to our hearts and we almost couldn't believe it ourselves that we managed to finish it in five days. But let's start at the beginning. Andrew's cousin, Claire, (my cousin-in-law, if you will) bought her first house in the suburbs of Dallas in March of 2018 and although it had hardwood floors and fresh paint, the kitchen was…
Well y'all, I've officially finished my 100-day challenge! At times it felt short and other times it felt like it was never going to end, but I really enjoyed the reflection I was able to have around my spending. Technically I finished the 100 days on May 14th but for the purposes of comparison, we finished the month strong and I compiled our expenses for the entire month of April so I could compare them to the previous 3 months. If you are new around here, back in January, I (and my family by default) decided to embark on a…
This weekend, Andrew and I spent some time organizing and cleaning our shop; we have a detached garage behind our house that functions as Andrew's workshop and a guest space. Now, I'm not saying my husband is a hoarder, but he saves a lot of miscellaneous items *in case* he needs them one day. Which has proven useful before but this method can also leave you with a lot of accumulated stuff. And if you don't have a system to store said stuff, then it gets hard to find, you can't remember what you have, and then you end up…
Hello! I am so excited to share a new project with you. If you read this post about the recent dresser makeover we (my husband and I) did, then you may have noticed a mention of my sister who just bought a new house. My sister sold her 2-bedroom townhome last month and bought a 3-bedroom house closer to my parents. Its a cute little brick 1-story that backs up to a creek with lovely little turtles that live there. Its perfect for her. Since she bought the house last month, she has had the master bathroom gutted and remodeled,…
Howdy Ya'll! I'm sharing another throwback Thursday room reveal today. This room has probably gone through the most transformations out of any room in our house as it started as a guest room, then turned into a toddler room, and now its home to our preschooler and toddler (ages 4.75 and 3). But it started out much like the other rooms in our house: old, tired, dated and with a wonky layout. North wall, bedroom 2 Now, I'm all for built-ins. You could say I'm the captain of Team Built-ins. But the built-in we were gifted in this room was…
If You know me, you know I can't pass up a free dresser. I'm a sucker for a quality piece of furniture in need of a little love. I want to save them all. Its so satisfying to know that the piece will live on and avoid the landfill with some elbow grease and a quart of paint. And so, as if it was meant to be, this dresser came into my life. This dresser story started out much like my last dresser story from this post. Again, a member of my neighborhood's Buy Nothing group posted a dresser they…
Can you believe another month has gone by? I feel like I just wrote February's post on this topic. Well, I'm 86 days (at the end of March) into this challenge and I'm feeling pretty good about it. To recap, I (and my family by default) am doing a 100-day challenge to spend less money on stuff so we can save money for more intentional purchases, like experiences and travel. Which is a little weird right now since we can't go on outings or travel excursions because of the coronavirus stuff happening in the world. But nonetheless, there's still a…
