I've got a simple and quick DIY for you on this Transformation Thursday. Is that a thing, or did I just make that up? I recently painted my kitchen chairs to refresh my dining space and many of you were interested in a tutorial on how to do your own DIY chair update. This is a relatively simply DIY that just requires a few materials and a little patience. Below you can see our original chair color pallet - Andrew built the black toddler/preschooler chairs and we bought the green stick chairs at a flea market years ago. Before Before…

Hey everyone! I'm back this week to share another room in my Throwback Thursday series, and this week I'm sharing how we renovated what we call our mudroom (although it doesn't function like your typical mudroom). I feel like every time I write a post in this series I declare that room was the most transformative of all the rooms in our house. But I do feel like this room was the most transformed on the smallest budget of all the rooms in our house. Once we removed the horrendous floors and dropped ceiling, a little paint went a looooooonnnng…

I can't believe its been almost 3 months since I've shared a Throwback Thursday post. To be honest, having my kids home full-time (their preschool closed mid-March due to the coronavirus) has made photographing my house next to impossible somewhat challenging. But, my two oldest children started back at preschool this week so I am here to finally share one of the public spaces in our house - the living room. Although small, this room serves as our main TV watching space, entertaining space, and is most often found littered with toys. But, let's start at the beginning. Soooooo dreamy,…

Howdy Ya'll! I'm sharing another throwback Thursday room reveal today. This room has probably gone through the most transformations out of any room in our house as it started as a guest room, then turned into a toddler room, and now its home to our preschooler and toddler (ages 4.75 and 3). But it started out much like the other rooms in our house: old, tired, dated and with a wonky layout. North wall, bedroom 2 Now, I'm all for built-ins. You could say I'm the captain of Team Built-ins. But the built-in we were gifted in this room was…

Hi! I'm back to share the second part of our bathroom renovation. You can read about the first round of renovations we did back in 2012 here. I expressed in that post that the bathroom was the first room I ever designed from scratch and I've learned a lot in the last 8 years. By 2018, I wasn't in love with all of my choices anymore and decided to give the bathroom a little refresh. If you can recall, this is what the bathroom looked like when we finished it in 2012: For this refresh, we focused on changes that…

Hi Y'all! I'm back for another Throwback Thursday and this week I'm sharing our bathroom renovations. This will be a two-part post; the first part will be the bathroom as we originally renovated it in 2012/2013 and the second part will be the updates we made to it in 2018. But let's start with the OG bathroom. Now, this wasn't the original original bathroom that was built with the house - that was replaced with what you see below, probably in the '80s (I'm convinced this is worse than what it would have looked like in the '50s). Here's what…

I'm trying a new type of post and I'm calling it my Weekend Update, so when you're done reading, let me know if you like it. Andrew and I were out of town last weekend (first trip away from our youngest child, her and I both did fine) with some friends, so this weekend we had a few projects to tackle. First up was our front deck. Every couple of years it needs a new coat of deck stain. We've only re-stain/sealed it once since we built it in 2014. It was looking weathered and my father-in-law offered to help…

Howdy! Today I'm sharing the renovations we made to our laundry suite. We call this room the laundry suite because at almost 100 square feet, its proportion to our total square footage (1,273) is highly unusual. Most people with a house our size are lucky to have a laundry closet, much less an actual room that works as hard as ours. But let's start with the what the laundry suite looked like when we bought our house. It had a "walk-in" pantry (as seen on the right, above) and a cabinet with a *convenient* folding surface. On the opposite wall,…

Hi y'all! This week I'm sharing the renovations we made to our master bedroom (Bedroom 1 on the floorplan). There's really nothing that makes this bedroom the master compared to the other bedrooms, except that it's the largest bedroom in our house. There is no ensuite bathroom (remember, we only have 1 bathroom total) and the closet in this room is the exact same size as the closet in bedroom 2 (both of which are smaller than the nursery closet). The master bedroom is in the front of the house, and it has 3 windows, so it gets tons of…

Hey there! I'm back for another throwback Thursday. This week I'm sharing the nursery, AKA our 3rd bedroom. Its time as the 3rd bedroom was short-lived as we finished this space at the end of 2013 and it became the nursery in early 2015. I couldn't even find a photo of this room finished before it became the nursery so its almost as if it didn't ever happen. Just to remind you, the nursery (3rd bedroom) is located in the back of our house, off of the mudroom. Its the quietest room in the house due to its distance from…
